Grandma Sumsion flew to sunny Texas to help take care of Owen and be ready for whenever baby Lydia decided to make her debut. I had to be induced with Owen, and had an induction date scheduled for 41 weeks this time too. I was pretty sure I would go all the way to it again this time.

Taken on July 2nd (my due date) |
We tried to do plenty to keep busy in the mean time. The theme of the week was planes, trains, and automobiles--including watching airplanes at the park and a ride on the grapevine vintage railroad.
Can't you tell how excited Owen is to ride the train? Haha
On July 4th, I woke up at 3:30am feeling a mild contraction. I tried to ignore it and went back to sleep. I had another one 20 min later. They gradually got closer and closer. By 5am I decided I wouldn't be able to sleep anymore so I got up, showered, dried my hair, and got all ready to go. By 7 am the contractions were about 5 min apart and we headed to the hospital!
It took a little bit of time to get signed in and changed. When they checked me I was dilated to a 6--Yay! This meant this baby was really coming! From there, everything happened very quickly. I asked for an epidural when I got there and they were able to give it to me around 9. At that point, I had progressed to an 8 and they told me it wouldn't be long. Lydia was born at 10:35 after only 10 minutes of pushing. There was some meconium staining, so the nicu team had to suction her airway right after she was born, but fortunately she didn't have any complications.
Welcome baby girl!
Later that day, grandma brought Owen over to meet his new sister.

Owen got to open a present from the baby, a new train set, at the hospital.
And back home again the next day!
