Owen-10 months

Just like that, another month gone in a blink of an eye.

Owen is getting more adventurous as he gets more and more mobile. His favorite activity is to curise-on the couch, from chair to chair, on the pews at church.... He's getting pretty fast too! He says mama and dada.  He still is army-crawling away and is exploring every nook and cranny.  He is very good at  noticing and picking up the tiniest crumbs, which helps me keep on top of all my housework!  One of my favorite things that he does is dance.  Whenever you turn any kind of up-beat music on he'll start wiggling his little bum and bouncing up and down. Very cute.

On the move
Busted! Someone found where we keep the diapers!
Crusin'
He still loves going on walks, and turns back periodically to say hi!

Someday Owen will probably hate that I shared this picture, but doesn't he just have the cutest little bum?! He makes me so nervous when he stands up like this, but if I sit him down, he just pops back up again.

Love our little man!

People of Wal-Mart

Sometimes awkward things happen. Sometimes embarrassing moments happen. Yesterday was one of those times.  Matt and I decided to do a last minute Saturday night Wal-Mart run to pick up a few things. Owen was getting a little fussy and squirmy as we approached the check-out line so I decided to hold him while Matt payed for our things.  All of a sudden I look down to discover that Owen has had a major blow-out. And I mean major.  Not to get too graphic, but it leaked over the top of his diaper and squirted out all over my arm. I call up to Matt to hand me a wipe.  He takes one look at me and scrambles to grab them from the diaper bag.  A few other things accidentally fall out.  When he bent down to pick them up, he noticed that, not only is there poop on my arm, but some has landed on the floor.  The poor cashier just looks at us and begins handing me bunches of paper towels. "I've got windex back here too if you want it," she tells me.

I'm mortified and make a bee-line for the bathroom, and Matt was not far behind. Luckily, there are bathrooms at the front of the store, not too far from the checkout. Well in my panic, I leave everything we just bought sitting there at the counter.  That wonderful cashier comes running after us with our stuff.

It turns out they are currently remodeling the bathrooms and they are closed. Perfect. At this point I just want to get to the car.  Matt volunteers to change Owen in the back seat and I start loading our stuff up. It's then that I notice a smear of poop across my shirt. Just another day keeping it classy at Wal-Mart.

The face of innocence. Home to laundry. And a bath.

Owen-9 months

Owen is growing up so much! He loves to stand up and is even starting to cruise a little bit. He still will army crawl his way if he really wants to get something, but ever since he started pulling himself up, he's only content to stand.
W on't sit in the tub :)
Sneaking around the corner
Some of his other tricks are turning the pages during story time, turning the lights off when we leave the room, and playing peek-a-boo.

He is also eating up a storm. He likes: peas, green beans, tomatoes, yams, squash, bell peppers, baby cereal, pears, apples, cheese, cheerios, bananas, black beans, mango, pineapple, avocado, blueberries, strawberries. Dislikes: carrots (50/50), cottage cheese, and peaches.
Satisfied after his breakfast
We also had a visit from Grandpa Sumsion this month.  We were so busy, I forgot to take any pictures.  We visited the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Dallas Museum of Art, the stockyards, BBQ, food trucks, shopping... it was fun having him visit!
