Owen's Birthday Party

Just a warning-this post is a little picture heavy! We celebrated Owen's birthday a few days early this weekend. Owen's favorite book is The Little Blue Truck-a cute little book about a farm truck so we used that for our theme.

I made a farm cake, it was super easy, although a bit time consuming.

We had some farm-themed food as well including: pigs in blankets, hay bales (rice crispies), farm fresh produce, chicken feed (candy corn), spare tires (oreos), and some shovels and pitchforks to eat it with.

We had a table with some activities for kids--farm animal balloons and farm sticker scenes.

Grilling up some "farm dogs" outside
Grandma doing stickers with cousins Livy and Blake
Some favors- "Thanks for hangin' with us" farm animals

Cake time!

He was a bit timid at first, but then he dug right in. I'm not sure how much he actually ate, but he had fun smearing it all around!

We opened presents next. I think Owen was a bit overwhelmed by all the little helpers :)

Lots of fun gifts, but the highlight was Owen's very own little blue truck from Grumps and Grandma Phillippi!

This picture cracks me up!
He loves pushing it around the house!

Owen and all his Texan cousins. Thanks for coming!

Owen-11 months

Little Owen is getting bigger!

He is an expert cruiser and is getting pretty fast.  He's even started to take a few steps! This new-found mobility has helped him to do some exploring!
Sneaking treats from the diaper bag

Found the T-shirt drawer!

Pots and pans!

Owen loves to hang onto the wall. He could scoot all around the perimeter of the house if we let him.

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed after a nap!
He's a very sweet boy who loves to share.  He will walk across the room to hand something to you if you ask him to.  He also will give kisses if you ask him to.  One day I was reading a book that had the word 'kiss' in it and he turned  right around and gave me a kiss on the cheek!  This month has been fun to see him learn and start to understand more things. He recognizes his books and has clear favorites. He can recognize certain words--sometimes we say code-words instead of his favorite snacks.  If I tell him that daddy is coming home, he gets excited and starts to look around.  Can't believe he's almost one!
