Owenisms

Owen is growing and changing so fast lately. He's really becoming his own little man.. I just wanted to record a few things he's said and done lately so I can remember this sweet little personality he's developing.

"That light is wearing a party hat!" (Pointing at a lampshade).

From under the pew at church: "It's daaark in here!"

Driving down the road, Lydia is asleep and the car is silent. Sigh, "Owen just really love cars."

When asked his age, "Two fingers!"

"Please don't put pretzels up your nose!"  Okay, that one was me. But Owen was cracking himself up. Definitely have a little boy on our hands!

Owen has a weird obsession with putting a blanket over his head. In spite of several running into the wall incidents, he persists. He thinks it's hilarious.

This morning we took the railing off of Owen's crib. He is super excited about his new big boy bed. When he saw it he started climbing all over it.. He had a successful nap in it this afternoon. We'll see how he does tonight! Fingers crossed for a smooth transition.

Lydia-3 months

Stats:
No check-up this month, but currently wearing size 0-3 and diapers size 1.

Look how big she's gotten! Check out those thighs Mo 1 vs mo 3, haha!

Our little girl is already a quarter of a year old! She loves her swing. She is drooling like crazy. She also started cooing and making happy little baby noises. Click here for 42 seconds of random baby noises! She smiles a bit more frequently and is getting a lot better at holding her neck up. We're still working on sleeping. Night time she does okay--she does a 6 hour stretch at night, will eat and go back to sleep.. She has a hard time with naps though, doesn't want to sleep unless she is held.  Which I love, only big brother isn't such a fan. :)

World's smallest ponytail, anyone?

Owen-2 years

We have a big two year old on our hands now! We wanted to get a picture with his bear and elephant like we did each of the first 12 months of his life... turns out it's even harder to get a good one with a two year old than a baby!

Stats:
Height: 35"-75th percentile
Weight: 27lbs 1 oz-38th percentile
Head Circumference: 50.5cm-90th Percentile
Diaper size-5
Clothing- 2T

Owen has grown up so much! He is developing more and more of a personality. He is very shy and takes a while to warm up to people. He is uncomfortable in big crowds. But, he is also the sweetest little guy.  While, definitely starting to act more "2", he has a big heart and loves to help out. He melts my heart when we're just walking along and he will wordlessly reach up and take my hand.
Owen very "sharing" his crackers with his hippo
I walked in and Owen was sitting on our bed wearing my nursing pillow! Trying to be like mommy.

And wearing daddy's shoes

He loves cars. Given the choice of what we are going to play, he will choose "play cars?" every time. Cars, trucks, planes, trains, diggers... Basically things that go! He also loves his sandbox and playing in the backyard.

Checking out the fire trucks at the fire station open house!

Fun with stickers
"Owen make a duck train!"
Riding the trolley in downtown Dallas
Playing at the park

Owen's vocabulary is rapidly growing. He is constantly repeating things that he has heard, sometimes even days later. He can count to 10 and sing the ABC's. He knows all of his colors and some of the shapes. He just learned the letter 'O' and is constantly pointing out Os everywhere we go--on signs, in books we read, etc.

One of my favorite things Owen does is sing songs. In a former life I woke up to the blaring of an alarm clock. Now it's Wheels on the Bus or Twinkle Twinkle coming through the monitor most mornings. We often will turn on Pandora toddler station and have dance parties.  Here's a video I took a few months ago of Owen singing in the back of the car on the way home one day.

We had a little birthday party on our trip, but we had a few presents for him to open when we got home.

It's a bit bittersweet to see how much my baby is growing up, but I can't wait to see what this next year brings!

Newport Vacation-Part 3 Disneyland

We spent a day in California Adventure and a day in Disneyland

The whole gang

All ready to go

Waiting in line--they had all the Halloween decorations up. Owen kept saying, "Look at the pumpkin Donald!"

Getting lunch together

Getting lunch together again-haha

Checking out the toon-town cars

We let Owen pick out a toy from one of the stores for his birthday.  He choose this baby goofy. Now that we're home, he has already taken up residence in Owen's crib.

Goofy is Owen's favorite character. Owen was so excited when he got to meet him!

Twice!

Owen liked seeing all the characters, especially the cars!

Ice cream break!

You can't see him, but Owen was squished between Matt and Grumps. He did not like it one bit!

Owen's first churro. It was a hit!

Owen liked the carousel.

Trying to take a selfie on the Tomorrowland Rockets. Owen wasn't having it. He liked the ride though!

Exhausted after a long day!
